Rise early to travel to the base of Uluru - Here you will receive your breakfast, accompanied by your guide, commence your base walk of Uluru as sunrise approaches.
First walk from Kuniya Piti - An Uluru sacred site and hear the Tjukurpa (Anangu – the local Aboriginal people - beliefs and law) story of the Mala Men. Next is the Mala Walk, one of the most important habitation areas for the local Aboriginal people over thousands of years.
Kantju Gorge - The Mala walk includes a visit into Kantju Gorge, where after rainfall, water can cascade over the side of Uluru and plunge some 90 metres. From here, you are then on to the base of the climb point.
Mutitjulu Waterhole - After a short rest break, continue on along the Lungkata Walk where your guide will tell you the Tjukurpa story of the cheeky Blue Tongue Lizard! Next stop is the Mutitjulu Waterhole. Your guide will indicate the natural features of the landscape, Aboriginal rock paintings and relay more traditional stories relating to this special place. The waterhole was once an important water source for the Anangu people.
Kuniya Piti - Your last section to complete your base walk is back to Kuniya Piti where you will board your coach back into town and receive a certificate of your achievement!
Please note - All belongings must be carried for the whole duration of the 12km walk, please ensure you bring only what you are capable of carrying.
Travel to Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) - Where your Driver Guide will explain the geological history of the area. Watch the spectacular sunrise over Kata Tjuta with Uluru in the distance from the western dune viewing area, light breakfast included.
Valley of the Winds lookout - Your Driver Guide will then escort you on a 2-3 hour walk to the Valley of the Winds lookout. Marvel at the unique flora and admire the view of the central valley of the domes of Kata Tjuta.
This tour may return to Ayers Rock Resort after midday.
Please note – A moderate level of fitness is required to complete the Valley of the Winds walk as the Walpa Gorge Walk is no longer an alternative option.
Enjoy a leisurely drive out to Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) - For one of our favourite sunset experiences in Central Australia. Along the way your Driver Guide will explain the geological and cultural history of the area.
Take in a magnificent outback sunset - Marvel at the unique flora and admire the view of the central valley of the domes of Kata Tjuta while you take in a magnificent outback sunset with canapés and Australian wine.
Return to Ayers Rock Resort - Approximately 60 minutes after sunset.
Travel - From Ayers Rock Resort to the Uluru sunset viewing area.
Enjoy nibbles and a complimentary glass of wine - As the sun sinks over the western horizon and the evening sky brings out the many shades of colour for which Uluru is famous. It is recommended that you photograph Uluru every 5 minutes to really capture the gradual colour changes of the rock.
