Fitzroy Gardens
Nestled in the bustling city of Melbourne are the tranquil Fitzroy Gardens; an urban retreat designed in the Victorian era and admired for its beautiful and historic features.
Make your way through the pathways lined with English Elm Trees and you’ll discover the beautifully restored cottage that Captain James Cook once lived in back in Great Britain. The cottage was gifted to the Victorian government in the 1930s and was shipped from Yorkshire to its new home in the heart of Fitzroy Gardens. Step back in time as you explore Cook’s Cottage including restored features and magnificent 18th century furnishings.
The gardens also include amazing floral displays, native wildlife like the brush tail possum and rainbow lorikeet and for the kids - Ola Cohn’s magical fairy tree sculpture.
