Caloundra Beach
At the very south of the Sunshine Coast is beautiful Caloundra, located 90 kilometres north of Brisbane. Known for its unspoilt beaches, crystal-clear waters and a friendly relaxed lifestyle, it's the perfect place to unwind and soak up the sun.
The thriving Caloundra esplanade is directly across from Bulcock Beach. The esplanade is home to several restaurants, seafront stores and several beaches are easily accessible from here.
One of the main and premier surfing beaches in Caloundra is Kings Beach. There’s something here for everyone. The giant time-delayed fountain and saltwater pool is always a favourite with kids. You can also explore the boardwalk, part of the grand Caloundra Coastal Walk. The boardwalk covers 25 kilometres and stretches from Golden Beach in the south to Mooloolaba in the north.
Another spectacular beach is Dicky Beach, home to the iron skeleton remains of the S.S. Dicky shipwreck that was forced ashore in 1893. This is the only recreational beach in the world to be named after a shipwreck. This unspoilt stretch of sun-drenched sand is perfect for swimming and surfing.
Major attractions in the area include Australia Zoo and the famous Ettamogah Pub, a quirky shaped building with an interesting history – the perfect place to relax and enjoy a cool drink.
